Minivans Never Seemed so Cool

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

Swagger Wagon, is an ingeniously adverting campaign centered around the two gangsta-parents seen is this catchy hip hop video above. Aiming to make the least sexy and most “parent-esque” vehicle on the road (the minivan) seem more hip and fun, Toyota employed Saatchi & Saatchi LA to “get behind the wheel”. Marketing Toyota’s Sienna though the use of humor, these ads hit the spot and miraculously seem to make that mommy/daddy-wagon seem like a sexy gangsta beast, love it! Check out the Swagger Wagon YouTube Channel for more of the humorous videos and marketing.

Choose Your Own Adventure Advertisment?!?

Friday, December 10th, 2010

So this is not today’s news, but I just stumbled onto it and it is AWESOME! Just like those good old Choose Your Own Adventure books that we all loved ever so much from our youth, this sweet advertisement for Tipp-Ex is genius. Sure it took me watching it several times to get past the novelty and actually recognize that it was even an ad for Tipp-Ex, but it blows my mind none the less. You have to take a few minutes to play around with it. Enjoy!

Smashing Magazine has this fabulous article about typography called Web Typography: Educational Resources, Tools and Techniques that I thought I would share. This article, or really a compilation of articles, does a wonderful job covering all things typography. From creating typefaces to designing with type to web type techniques, the article has it all. It is definitely worth the time to at least browse though it. Here are a few of the links from the article that I think are particularly useful/interesting:

Terrible Logo Design

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Hard to believe I know, but some people actually think that logos (like the one above are a good idea. Worse yet, some one was paid to create that. Hah! Of course I have been at the other end of the magnifying glass and when you have been working very closely on a specific piece of art, you can miss the bigger picture. But with that one really I think that you need to have been sleeping or something. I mean get up to go for refresh the coffee and when you come back, blam! There it is staring at you…

Great Ad

While I am not sure that this would be the ideal lubircant and I certainly would throw up a “do not try this at home” disclosure, this certainly is what the Tin Man was looking for when he first saw Dorthy… I thought that this as was rather clever. Thoughts? ;-)
