There are a lot of talented video production artists and directors out there and Ross Ching is clearly one of them. In Ching’s short 3 minutes, he does a great job of combining mixing sci-fi with modern life, a sort of Star Wars meets The Condemned. Very well thought out and masterfully executed, this film does for the light saber what Equilibrium does for the gun, taking the futuristic sword play past the usual into the realm of Kung Fu mixed martial arts. Thursday, April 7th, 2011Making Art is Art Itself…
Monday, January 24th, 2011Well at least in the case of this music video it is! Director/Producer Mathieu Wothke did just that with The Limousines’ music video of Very Busy People. This witty video of a music video being made takes you from Photoshop to QuickTime and then Safari to Vimeo. (more…)
Toy Story + Inception = Vacuum AWESOMENESS

This awesome LG Kompressor Elite Commercial had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Would the barbie-in-distress fall pray to the monsters below? Would the ever so adorable young Kate and Leo-esque dolls have their “promise me you will never let go” moment? Enters LG’s Kompressor Elite as the music reaches its climax and I could finally relax every muscle in my body. Joking aside, this is a pretty awesome video! I mean at the first time I watched this I said to myself, “Sweet! A new must see movie.” I totally didn’t see “vacuum cleaner” coming… Kudos LG, best vacuum commercial EVER!
Stop-Motion, Insert Coin
Friday, December 17th, 2010Each of those sparkly little dots, yeah, a quarter! As in George Washington in profile, as in doesn’t get you much these days aside from a pack of Wrigley gum… I don’t know about you, but I find stop animation fascinating and amazing all at once. Add to that the retro video game world and you get a real winner. I love the conceptual play on the quarter as the medium juxtaposed to the subject of old school video gaming, simply delightful. Check out the clip below and prepare to be wowed!
Design Coffins, Not Such a Bad Way to Go…
Sunday, December 12th, 2010Believe it or not this friendly colorful sculpture is a coffin! This particular work of art was made by the design shop of the Ghanaian master carpenter Paa Joe (seen right). Paa Joe was an apprentice to Seth Kane Kwei, who is thought to be the inventor of African design/fantasy coffins back in the 50’s. This tradition seems to have grown from a delightful story of a loving son who want his mother to have the world. Kane Kwei’s mother had always dreamed of flying in a plane. Living as a poor woman in Teshie, in the suburbs of Accra in Ghana, she of course would never be able to afford such an expense. Here loving son however created for her a beautiful wooden airplane in which would carry her in her final journey. When she did pass, she was buried in the plane coffin Kane Kwei made for her. It is no surprise that the community fell in love with symbolic gesture and thus the tradition was born.
