Even if you are a web rookie, you have undoubtedly seen Google’s ever changing feature image. Today, the birthday of Jules Vern, French writer and the pioneer of Science Fiction—note the deafening cheers from the sounds of thousands of Dungeons & Dragons and Lord of the Rings Fans around the world. To mark the occasion, Google has turned their logo into an interactive dive into the depths of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. You have to check it out: Google!
Though more commonly know for the static “Google Doodles” (graphic variations on the google logo for special Holidays), this is of course not the first of Google’s interactive logos. While I think today’s variation is pretty sweet, one that certainly cant go forgotten is the ever famous Google Pacman logo. In my opinion by far the coolest of the Google variations, and definitely the best for killing free time. They also had the Particle Logo to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the discovery of the Buckminsterfullerene (C60)
In case this is all mind bending and new to you, you may also enjoy playing with some of the whitey features of interesting google searches… Have you ever noticed the “I’m Feeling Lucky” option next to the “Google Search” button? Basically this button will take you to the most popular search result. So here are a few things to type in, click “I’m Feeling Lucky” and see what happens:
“Find Chuck Norris”
“french military victories”
xx-hacker
xx-elmer
xx-bork
“Answer to Life the Universe and Everything” (regular search)
Oh Google, what will you think up next? **sigh** :-)
