After Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9) was released on March 14, 2011, Microsoft has kept the wheels of “innovation” turning behind the scenes… well either that or they realized that their “new” product was still inferior to all the other browsers out there. Of course the new IE was angelic and godly in comparison to its crippled and deformed ancestor IE 6. Still shamed by the mark of IE6 on the IE family tree, Microsoft is trying its hardest to actually get in front of the curve and not just slide down it by playing catch up to the the innovation of Google and Mozilla. Roll out the carpet and pop the bubbly. Enters IE 10! Okay, maybe the champagne is a bit premature, but Microsoft has released its first platform preview of the new IE.
To add a little pop to the punch, Microsoft announced this update less then a month after the release of IE 9! Microsoft bashing aside, IE10 seems to have some promising capabilities! Surging ahead of the competition, IE 10 “builds on full hardware acceleration” boasts IE corporate VP, Dean Hachamovitch. There seems to be no arguing with performace demo that Microsoft offered at the Mix 11 conference. In addition to this powerhouse move, IE is also set up to come fully loaded with the added CSS3 and HTML5 support, including multiple columns, and gradient options.
Of course IE is still not the leader in web standards or adoption of CSS3 and HTML 5 as they have yet to include some aspects like text-shadow and HTML 5 form support, maybe soon… But check out this video with a more in-depth overview.
