Brochure Design
Challenge: The Jewish Labor Committee came to me in need of a revamped look for their brochure. In preparation for their annual Labor Seder, they wanted a marketing piece that increased interest and brought the event solidly into the 2010s.
Solution: To revamp the feel of the Labor Seder, I mixed traditional Jewish iconography with past Seder photography and current typography. These and the handle of the line work offset the traditional element. Mixed with the photography of the Seder and past labor rallies, and voila!

Solution: Sizing up the content, I took the resources that I had and came up with this solution. Trying to keep an outdoorsy, fun and lively feel to the publication, I utilized a combination of the wonderful imagery, stunning typography and an atypical size format.

Aesop Fabel
Challenge: A colleague who was interested in making a collection of Aesop’s Fabels came to me with this project. He wanted the classic tales to be told traditionally but have them viewed in a new light, while still being appropriate for a younger audience.
Solution: Confronted with this fun and interesting challenge, I decided to tackle this project with a different approach. Thinking of how I used to love using colored paper when I was younger and the awesome texture that it has, I decided to render this illustration out of cut construction paper. It was an instant hit!

Skyy Vodka Ad
Challenge: This is a concept advertisement for Skyy Vodka, meant to appear in a women’s magazine like Glamour or Marie Claire. While Skyy Vodka normally advertises with a focus on men, the aim here was to focus on women and show how fun and cool Skyy Vodka is for them.
Solution: To hit the target market, I thought that using an illustrative style would be very effective. This allowed for exaggerated features and overly idealized body image. Many woman could easily picture themselves in this position "out with the girls" having a grad time.

Puma Poster
Challenge: This project was a reflection of Puma’s move to a more dramatic color palette. I wanted to express the full range of color that Puma handles and the fun that they bring.
Solution: To make this point, I used a de-saturated older model of Pumas with this explosion of color coming from within. This told the visual story of the Puma brand bringing color to life. Combined with the catchy slogan, this made a successful marketing tool.

Computer Symposium Poster
Challenge: The Computer Graphics Symposium in Washington DC, was in need of a promotional poster to increase interest in the 2004 conference. They wanted the poster to have intrigue, appeal and to be different from the traditional posters around town.
Solution: To give a unique feel to this poster, I immediately thought that the idea of a traditional collage would be a strong way to send this message. The juxtaposition of the medium with the content provided a strong statement, in a time when the digital field was rapidly growing. Mix this with a little type handling and you have one very happy client!

Spirit Card
Challenge: Lionsgate was seeking a holiday promotional card with a "Boston twist" to publicize the 2008 release of The Spirit. As part of their effort, they contacted artists though out the US to make location relevant cards.
Solution: I referenced the original 1940’s comic and then added a recognizable slice of the Boston skyline and some of Boston’s infamous snow to create this design.

Promotional Piece
Challenge: Children’s Hospital Boston had a World Series trophy event for which they had a photo shoot with the trophy. With the hopes of speeding up the event, they sent visitors to a website to collect their photos and wanted a fun hand-out to explain this.
Solution: To play off the World Series idea, I designed this as a baseball card. Not only was this a fun keepsake, it also offered an enjoyable way to promote the hospital and increase awareness about the hospital through the "stats" on the back.

Character Illustration
Challenge: Over my time teaching, I have encountered several recurrent questions. In Photoshop this is usually something like "how do you create a realistic looking illustration" and in flash it is about animating a realistic illustration. So in an attempt to answer these questions, I created this illustration.
Solution: To tackle these questions I created this illustration from scratch using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop. The plan was to then create a flash animation of this character to demonstrate a walk/run cycle (this part is still under development, stay tuned for updates).

Traditional Illustration
Challenge: The Program for Jewish Civilization (PJC) at Georgetown University came to me in need of some illustrations to spice up their publication. Instead of just placing a photo of these individuals into their newsletter, they thought that it would add some refinement and interest to have hand-drawn illustrations.
Solution: To accommodate the PJC’s request, I used ink on Bristol board to give an editorial feel to the illustration.
